Dr. Amit Goswami is one of the eminent scientists in the field of quantum physics. His famous book ‘Physics of the Soul’ is regarded as the turning point of his life. A professor at the University of Oregon, he worked relentlessly to publish research papers in world-famous journals — and simultaneously authored a good number of books.
He taught physics for three decades. Like any other scientist he carried many questions in his mind — the most prominent of which was: how is possibility converted to actuality?
The answer is not unique; there are numerous views upon it, and even hearing it from the horse’s mouth is unlikely to yield a concrete answer. His thoughts pondered the question greatly — and so, for the years that followed, he moved on to research human consciousness, and its distinction from matter.
After rigorous research, Dr. Goswami arrived at the opinion that consciousness — not matter — is the key to all existence. It is well known that anything which takes up space and has volume is called matter; but Dr. Goswami proposed that the universe is actually self-aware, and that this awareness is the sole reason for the existence of the physical world.
He later named this paradigm Monistic Idealism. Being a scientist in the field of quantum physics, he relates the whole of his discipline to the new paradigm — explaining quantum physics with the help of this idealism. Simultaneously, he relates the idealism to free will, creativity, healing, unconsciousness, and finally to spiritual growth itself.
