E. Stewart Rhodes is Founder and Director of Oath Keepers www.oathkeepers.org. After graduating from high school, he entered the United States Army where he served as a paratrooper and airborne reconnaissance scout for the 9th Infantry Division at Fort Lewis Washington until disabled in a rough terrain parachuting accident during a night jump. He worked as a certified firearms instructor while attending college, and was a member of Rep. Ron Paul's DC staff before entering Yale Law School. Upon graduation from law school, in 2004, where he was a Research Scholar and assisted teaching U.S. military history, he clerked for Arizona Supreme Court Justice Michael D. Ryan.

Besides being a totally hands-on Director of Oath Keepers and writing for both Blogs, Stewart currently also writes the monthly Enemy at the Gates column for S.W.A.T. Magazine, and has written for The Warrior, the journal of Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyer’s College, and was invited to speak at Stanford University on unlawful enemy combatant status... more about this below.

There you can read, in two shorter parts or the In-Depth History and Analysis of "Solving the Puzzle of Enemy Combatant Status." A 94 page paper that won Yale’s Miller prize for best paper on the Bill of Rights --he teaches on the Constitution and Bill of Rights. You will also discover that Mr. E. Stewart Rhodes is a poet and sculptor. See his beautiful interpretation of Delacroix's Liberty Leading the People. In art and concept, his mission is unwaveringly to preserve our Country's and its People's Freedom. He is writing a book on the dangers of applying the laws of war to the American people.

Listen Now	September 1st, 2009 "Truth Receives Flak" The South Poverty Law Center started out OK but now they have joined the ranks of smearing through innuendo, marginalizing, and lumping groups together into a militia movement that is labeled nuts, racist, right wing extremist, you name it. If they had chosen to use a little journalistic fairness by including an interview with Stewart their report would have had to been quite different. Oathkeepers is not a militia, the mission is very simple, "Our mission is simply to have military and police follow the law." Although Stewart has been interviewed twice by the media, most articles run with no interview, not reliable and not fact, it's someone's opinion. "The problem is the truth is being lost... the goal is to get you to shut up" for example the Marine who challenged a politician at a Town Meeting and many others speaking up, throwing such a lurch into the 'prepared' meetings, that some of the speakers close the podium and leave. One wonders since our country is based on individual and inalienable rights, sovereignty of the states and limited federal government, how is it that when rights are vanishing, when the federal government is meddling into private sectors and states and down to micro managing and mandating to its citizens... when the people speak out they are labeled as everything from borderline lunatics to domestic terrorists? As Stewart puts it, "we were asleep at the switch during the Bush administration and now we have problems with Obama." This is why it is so important to support Oathkeepers.org, see the new website with a forum and find resources there to get the word out. Also a drive for Veteran's Day, raising a "money wave" that goes straight to care packs for troops by Christmas, and the adopt a soldier program. The OKs aim to have a nationwide network of sub chapters in all states. States are questioning the Federal Government, at the same time the Government quickly creates multiple bills like "test balloons" to gain more and more authority, "The average American has turned over too much, a lot has happened over time that is dangerous." Listen Now	July 2nd, 2009 "Human Rights vs. Political Correctness" (Joined by Sheriff Richard Mack) Sheriff Mack and Stewart Rhodes, who are thrilled to be working together as oath keepers, give an update on events this weekend and during Independence Day, events which include Oath ceremonies, speakers, classes on the Constitution and about 'reaching out to your Sheriff.' You can start by getting your county squared away (and keeping an eye on Washington) "the way to take back our Republic is one county at a time." Once you get your county then focus on your state (the Governor). Oath Keepers will be looking at about 1000 races for Sheriff coming up in 2010. "The Constitution should be the supreme law of the land, it's not now because we have too many officials that have replaced it with mainstream political correctness, there are those who 'go with the flow' turn a blind eye and ignore their duty and responsibility by leaving it all to the courts, which means our rights can be violated by default. Anyone who has taken the oath does not need permission from anybody else to prevent citizens rights from being violated in the first place, in fact that is their duty to do so, "it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that these things are wrong and we are on the wrong path." When Congressman Paul sees a new bill his first question is always, is it constitutional... and every sheriff should be doing the same thing. Sheriff Mack explains why and how we are so far off the mark; his take on Obama, our "Gestapo" IRS that should not exist; and several others things where the Fed Gov thinks they have power over the states may surprise you. The concept of real sovereign states where the Constitution, the foundation of our country, is upheld is so appealing yet unfortunately strikingly in contrast with the way things are, "it shows how absurdly ridiculous our government has gotten, and we think everything is fine?" Stewart makes the point that the people contributing to the problem do not recognize nor believe in natural rights, "they believe that you only have the rights the government gives you, that you have no inherent human rights whatsoever... that mindset lends toward no limits which means anything goes! This is why Oath Keepers is so important, they have opened the door to a peaceful, lawful, and doable path for the military, law enforcement, and every citizen, to help restore and preserve the sovereignty, rights, and freedoms that our Founding Fathers fought and died for. Listen Now	June 22nd, 2009 "Americans Need Not Be Afraid" Independence Day Freedom Celebrations are being held around the country with speakers, the oath ceremony, and average citizens taking the oath as well for the first time. Veterans who want to speak at these events can, contact Stewart for more information. "This is a great way to celebrate the 4th of July. The Declaration is for everyone, all men are created equal..." Listen for where Stewart will be that day and a reminder that Oath Keepers is a non-partisan organization. The absurdity of racism in our country, "we are all Heinz 57 Mutts." The DHS Report (pdf) sent to law enforcement defining right wing extremists ...which according to this definition most of us qualify, we hope you read this report. It's smearing and marginalizing people, "this country is different, we're not Nazi Germany or Russia, the goal is to make you afraid so you don't speak up. Why should Americans be afraid?" A rather sad and and striking example of two very different perspectives taken from the mail he receives... "Let's put all 300 million of us on the list, folks it's time to get rid of your fear of being an a list, you are probably on it anyway. "The way to stop it is stand up right now, courage is like muscles, you have to exercise it, so get out there and exercise it!" ( suggestions for doing just that) People have been so busy with families, jobs, making ends meet that the silent masses haven't been paying attention for a long time... now we all need to pay attention and get involved! The situation in Iran, brave people under worse situations "putting us to shame" ...perhaps we need to get to that point before we make that decision --let's hope that will not be the case; the alarming trend at Ft Bliss and Ft Campbell brings to mind the the DC v. Heller case (pdf); and how any mechanism is used to prevent people from bearing arms with an example of a teenager. Then suggestions on how to approach your Sheriff with Oath Keepers handouts and Sheriff Mack's book. Note: The official Oath Keepers website will be up in a few days. Listen Now	June 11th, 2009 "Understanding Our Dual Sovereignty" (Joined by Sheriff Richard Mack) It's no wonder that Stewart, who founded Oath Keepers four months ago, met Sheriff Richard Mack who has been talking about these things for years, one example is the monumental lawsuit he filed, and won, against the Clinton administration regarding the Brady bill. The Supreme Court ruled on the "Dual Sovereignty" found in the Constitution that does not give Congress authority to override state legislature, and which prevents the forming of a central government that would violate the principle of state sovereignty. This begs the question, do you know how important your Sheriff is? We didn't! In his newest wonderfully written short book "The County Sheriff, America's Last Hope", Sheriff Mack makes it very clear that the Sheriff is the most powerful source of power in America, it's a book that every citizen should read! They both explain how our dual sovereignty in the Constitution works. The federal government cannot compel state officers to execute federal law, unlike what you see on TV shows your Sheriff can stop any federal agency, including the IRS, from breaking down your door. Oath Keepers handouts combined with Sheriff Mack's book is intended to remind and educate the military, law enforcement, and citizens of this most important issue, the boat we are in now of our fading independence is repeating itself from over 200 years ago... You can help by giving this information to your Sheriff, as Stewart says "first we have to get our county Sheriff squared away one county at a time." And write to your representatives about the worrisome legislation going on. Also, the government's current phobia with weapons; DHS has labeled our veterans as potential enemies; surprising IRS agent testimonies to Congress; the press on Mack during the lawsuit; and lessons learned from Ruby Ridge and Waco. Because it gives hope and power back to the people. Everyone in the military, veterans, and peace officers took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the USA. Oath Keepers is comprised of those who honor their oath and understand its meaning, purpose, and scope. Never mind party lines, cultural lines, or religious beliefs, it its about all men are created equal, with inherent inalienable rights upon which this country was founded. It's about educating and reminding, since many who have taken the oath do not realize it is their duty to not obey unlawful or immoral orders. Stewart says "All we have to do is teach them, and most of them know."
