"Nature's Innate Intelligence" Spring is here and the plants are waking up! Everything we need to know can be learned from nature, and our world is in a precarious situation. You can see yourself in trees, plants, animals, and rocks, we are all made up of the same stuff. Learning the passion of nature, and adaptation is nature's evolution. What happened to the passion in our world that turned into greed? Laurie's research on people in the past who studied and loved nature with a passion is wonderful to hear. "It's changed my outlook on everything because what is not life?" The truth is found in science, not in religion, the example of the famous Scopes Monkey Trial, a battle between theology and science. The findings are amazing and has bloomed into a huge body of work. Among others she focused on Luther Burbank, a gentle loving genius about whom Yogananda called a Saint. It has been known since the 1800's through a simple polygraph that plants react to stimuli. There is a beautiful video of Stefano Mancuso on The roots of plant intelligence. Plants move, play, sleep, respond to gravity, interact with animals, and have a brain like the Internet! A story about the 1906 earthquake and Luther's glass greenhouse, a potato that made him famous, and a spinless cactus he developed by talking to the plant. How about singing plants? They can be trained, and play for you the music of your attitude! And that's not all, there is more. "How Nature Teaches!" Laurie's passion for nature is an essential aspect of the empowerment project. Ramtha's 7 years on the rock observing nature and the wisdom he gained through this master teacher, Nature itself, is a moving and inspiring story (mentioned, not told here.) This hour is filled with wonderful examples of how we can learn from nature, a reflection that shows us ourselves. Her research became a whole curriculum and a book will come from that too. Nature includes outer and inner space, our central sun and the tiny atom, as above so below, as within so without. It's about an open mind that stretches our imagination into new perceptions and ultimately knowing. Most children think food comes from the grocery store, they definitely need to get out in nature! Olympic swimmers increasing speed through suits made though studying shark skin - bio-mimicry, lessons from bees, termites, honing intuition, heightening our senses, and our silence, so needed, is disappearing, imagine 20 minutes of natural sounds only, or sleeping in a corn field hearing a thunder storm approaching then experiencing it overhead! Sound is amazing, it has color and it can heal, and the effect of music and birds singing. Man-made ultra sound and sonar confuses and disrupts nature, impacting everything, everywhere, we need to have long vision to change our ways. "So go out and observe nature everyone, and see yourselves reflected!" |

"Magical Mind Hour" As the creator of the Imagination and Empowerment Project, Laurie combats the decline of creativity as students need to know they can do anything! She does this through teaching the teachers, after all, kids know when you are blowing smoke, they want something real to work with, to inspire them, things that they sense in themselves but not quite confirmed yet by the outside world. It's about seeing opportunities rather than problems, looking at things another way. Imagine all teachers being empowered! Kids spend more time with their teachers than they do with their parents! Attitudes about success and failure can cause frustration, competition, and loss of self esteem, if at first you don't succeed ... yet understanding that success is often born on a heap of failures, there are numerous examples on this, failure isn't bad, but just part of the process so we learn to never give up! Our attitude will make us or break us. In this sweet hour it's rather amazing how easy it is to inspire empowerment in our young people, they are thirsty for it, all they need is someone to show them the doors of their imagination and unlimited potentials. What a great reward when reality changes from "I can't", "I don't know", to "knowing what I Am, and what I can accomplish!" "Empowering Mind for Young People!" Now is the time for Laurie to fulfill her passion to reach young people with a profound message, currently called the Youth Imagination and Empowerment Project. Where "energy" used to be a 'wu-wu, new age' concept, now we have science that shows our thoughts matter! The core of the mission is 'Attitude is Everything', and the kids get it! She gives them life scenarios to think about, how to handle frustration differently to change the energy and the outcome, "getting through to just one kid makes it all worth it." Great story of a new attitude shaving 17 seconds off of best track time that shocked a coach! Working with a group of 8 to 12 year old skaters she saw their practice was perfect yet they spoke self sabotaging thoughts - what effect does that have on performance, if any?. She used an example (with a balloon) to change the fear of failure, this makes a world of difference as does the exercise of writing down 10 things you love about yourself and 10 things you don't like in 2 minutes. It makes a sort of map revealing their attitude, and shows them how the body reacts to thoughts. More examples, a feedback story on the priority (and pressure) of grades, and how being out of the box really works! Just one wrapper went out the car window, the 'missing' paper, and the peeling paint. The common attitude, 'I'm just a kid so I can't...' is there until they change their mind. And who in their life teaches them that? Laurie's natural and very creative approach of conveying something new to these young minds is reaching many kids, and they are jazzed with the 'magical' results! Her vision is to create a website that will be a hub of information, speak live to kids, have videos, kid's forums, all geared for a kid's community. "Teaching kids a new attitude is a vital missing link, it's key." Indeed it is, as kids that learn and understand that their thoughts are creating their reality will likely be the geniuses of the future! |
