James O'Dea, clear thinking and forward seeing president of the Institute of Noetic Sciences www.ions.org and the Seattle, WA community www.ionsnw.org/ James brings to IONS a depth of experience and perspective that is powerful. He lived and worked in Turkey and Lebanon, witnessing civil conflict and massacres that influenced him deeply and led to his becoming director of the Washington DC office of Amnesty International for ten years, representing it to the State Department, White House, and World Conference on Human Rights, testifying before Congress, meeting with U.S. presidents, foreign heads of state... and making a difference.
Prior to joining IONS, James was executive director of Seva, and created and currently co-leads a series of dialogues “Compassionate and Social Healing” funded by the Fetzer Institute, that bring together leaders and activists in a various fields related to human rights and social reconciliation initiatives.
James speaks on the science of consciousness, intention, and perception, and shows how a major shift in world views is already creating new forms of meaning and new possibilities for action and change. How can we use our own consciousness - this potent tool - to create global healing and transformation? What would it mean to be skilled users of the most spectacular tool available? "We are one, we are all in some form of unity emerging and our task is to remember that not only do we pledge allegiance alone to a particular flag but we pledge allegiance to the Earth and it's sky and it's waters and all of it's cultures as a collective enterprise that still has an extraordinary journey ahead of it."
