"The Abundant Household of Nature"
About Bruce, Sepp Holzer, applied ecology, and how to create ecosystems. Economics and ecology are the key to making environments work. "Through understanding and imitating nature we can make superior economies." Historically, the civilizations who used this are the ones who survived. It's very different from agri-business, tilling, chemicals, which grows food for the market, not for people. Bruce gives us a little history on how we came to this point from WWI to Nixon, and where it is leading into the future. He is very passionate about permaculture because it has so many solutions to all of our problems "it's all about how to create life intentionally." The natural way - creating sustainable eatable landscapes, observing nature, catching water, he describes Sepp Holzer's remarkable farm adorned by beautiful ponds. Our little town of Yelm has it's own water park which Bruce says is a world class demonstration for recovering clean water. But back to growing your own food, people today are more interested in that, not because of food shortage fears but because of the ingredients and contaminants in mass produced food. "Real hope for the future is tending your own homestead, it's about care of the earth, people, all living things." And your "homestead" could be a balcony, a kitchen garden, or a bucket!
